The restoration and refurbishment of listed former bank building to provide modern office accommodation, located at the junction of two main city centre thoroughfares in Belfast. Works included alterations and refurbishment works to the 13,000sq ft building, over five floors, incorporating the existing services. Finished offices included raised access floors throughout to allow complete integration of electrical and IT services with complete flexibility of workstation layout. We completed the building with associated M&E service installations including heating, lighting and cooling, which was serviced by beams suspended below the ornate plaster ceilings by wires.
In addition to the conservation works, the building was sympathetically extended to provide lift and staircase access, compliant with modern building regulations. The extension also provided modern washrooms and a rooftop glazed penthouse level, providing accommodation with striking views over the surrounding area. The challenge of achieving this while not impacting on the listed building was not insignificant but was met and overcome very successfully.
