European Union Office Accommodation
The project required the demolition of existing building and the redevelopment of the site to provide a four storey office block and retail accommodation. Construction included bored piles, full height stairwells and lift shaft formed from insitu reinforced concrete, structural steel frame and exterior cladding and curtain walling. The building’s glazed front façade leans away from the building therefore this required rigorous design detail to ensure integrity of the building envelope. The 14000sq ft building located in Belfast City Centre, was fitted out to provide secure office accommodation for the European Union government departments.
Due to the sites city centre location, advance works prior to construction included the diversion of existing services and the survey of an existing main sewer to locate its exact position. Works also facilitated the adjoining Church to ensure it remained in use throughout the construction phase, without being disturbed.
